We Believe in a Sustainable future, now!

We are proud to have been Accredited by The Green Salon Collective as a sustainable salon. To achieve this distinction we have had to prove what what we do to be sustainable. Here are some of the things we do:-

• We use Davines Products.

• We recycle metals…
  All our foil used for highlights, metal tint tubes, metal product tins are sent away for recycling. It doesn’t even matter if we don’t wash the metal before it goes away, it is still recycled. How cool is that! Even better, 100% of the profits from the metal recycling goes to charity! We`ve all got to do are bit.

• We recycle hair…
  Your hair gets re used too. How many times have you wondered what happens to your hair once we sweep it away down the salon? Well now we can officially say its not sent to landfill!
  Oil soaks up oil, so its tightly packed inside cotton or nylon tubes and when placed in water or on beaches it stops oil from spreading.
  Hair can also be made into mats for use on land, parks, gardens and even streets! Your hair can go a long way.

• We reduce tint down the sink…
  Any unused tint in the bowl that doesn`t go on your hair gets collected together and used to generate electric. It is sent to specialist facilities, burned to ash and the heat helps recharge the national grid. Electric!

• Compostable Towels…
  The salon moved to one use disposable towels in 2020, we did this to reduce energy usage, water usage & detergent use from washing and drying towels after every use. Also to make it easy to process the amount of towels we go through each day and make sure we don`t run out.
  Because the towels are disposed of after one use we make sure that we minimise there impact on the environment.
  All towels are made of 100% natural products, and are 100% compostable so in the future no one will ever know we used it on you.

• Compostable Gowns…
  Yes, the gowns we protect you with are made of 100% natural products, and are 100% compostable.

• Enviro Friendly plastic capes…

  After much searching we now source the plastic capes, that you wear when we colour your hair, from Davines. They cost more but they are made of plant based plastic and 100% biodegradable…

• Fully Recyclable Cups
  Our cups used for hot drinks have an EarthCoating on the inside of the cup which means it is certificated to be recycled along with paper and card without the need for special processes. Unlike 100% plastic coated paper cups which recyclers have difficulty processing through their equipment, our cups, using the EarthCoating are designed to be easily pulped. This is the first step in making waste paper cups more valuable to recyclers.

• Plant Made plastic cups…

  Cold drinks are served in plastic cups made form plant based PLA plastic and are fully compostable.

• Bulk Orders…

  We aim to make orders in large quantities. Larger amounts mean less deliveries and less transport pollution. This is everything from ordering shampoo & tint to office supplies, cleaning products even bog roll. Now we just need somewhere to store it all!

• Reduced paper use…

  We have stopped automatically printing credit card receipts and printing page after page of reports. We keep as much as possible digitally and never use staples.
  When we do use paper for printing, appointment cards etc we source recycled FSC paper where we can or the next best alternative.

• LED Lighting
  We have LED lighting throughout the salon, and proximity sensors to only turn lights on when someone enters specific rooms.

We are consistently looking for ways to improve the impact we have on the environment, and we have some big plans for the future to be a leading sustainable salon.
